Whey protein supplements will build muscle, given your diet and training are spot on to induce muscle gains and hypertrophy. Many health foods, vitamins, minerals and herbs claim to have the ‘power’ to see you get there quicker, but most are nothing more than cash sucking gimmicks. Protein, however, is a macronutrient that is vital and essential to good health as well as muscle building.

  • a handful of red cherries, 20 calories
  • 1 cup of flavorless yogurt, 120 calories, 7 grams of protein
  • 2 servings of Optimum Nutrition Whey, 44 grams of protein, 176 calories
  • 1 full banana, 80 calories

I mix it all into a blend shaker and shake till thoroughly mixed.  This shake contains a total of about 470 calories with 60 grams of protein.  A solid muscle building protein shake or meal after an intense workout.  You can come up with your own recipe and put whatever you want.  Protein shakes build muscle.
